Hearth Cooking: Bread & Soups
Noah Webster House - 227 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT, United States
Step back in time and experience the satisfaction of making your own food from scratch. Before the advent of modern kitchen conveniences like self-rising flour and the Instapot, preparing a meal for your family took time, effort, and culinary know-how. Slow down the pace, start from scratch, and experience historic cooking at the Noah Webster House this spring in a series of Historic Hearth Cooking Classes led by Becky Hendricks, historic food researcher with over 20 years experience as a living historian.
Knead, bake, enjoy!
Prepare delicious anadama, wheaten, and pompion breads in the bake oven. Enjoy with soup, pounded cheese, and fresh churned butter.
The class and instructor will select soups to prepare.
You will do it all, from set up to clean up. At the end of the class, sample everything and take bread home with you!
Classes are for those age 12 and up. (Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.)
The cost is $50 per person plus a $5 material fee.
